Member Spotlight: Tom Young

The Solo & Small Firm Section spotlight is on appellate lawyer and litigator Tom Young of Thomas Wade Young, P.L., in Orlando. Tom graduated Order of the Coif from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 1990 and began his legal career with a prominent Kansas law firm. He earned partnership, practiced for more than twelve years and gained jury trial experience in the areas of contracts, products liability, medical malpractice, personal injury and consumer protection. In 2002, he was presented the opportunity to work on a grant project funded by The Florida Bar Foundation, which led to his selection as the first appellate counsel for the Florida Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office. Tom returned to private practice in 2008 after earning board certification by The Florida Bar in appellate practice; he is one of fewer than 200 appellate specialists in Florida. He is vice chair of The Florida Bar’s Professional Ethics Committee. Tom is an active member of the Orange County Bar Association and is a former chair of its Appellate Practice Committee. He has presented continuing legal education programs in the areas of appellate practice, technology use in the legal profession, and ethics and professionalism. Contact him at or (407) 373-0942.
